The Groupe Florimond Desprez is the 11th largest seed company in the world, a leader in the sugar beet seed industry and one of the leading European breeders of small-grain cereals. With its brand Germicopa, the Group is also one of the key players in the European seed potato market.
The Florimond Group operates in 65 countries, with 35 direct subsidiaries abroad, and generates two-thirds of its turnover outside of France. Almost 60% of the Group’s employees are located abroad.

Strong growth stimulated by the company’s internationalisation strategy

Over the past 20 years, the Group’s growth has been driven by its significant international expansion. The first country that the Group expanded into abroad was Morocco, where it established a subsidiary in 1987. In 1993, Florimond Desprez then entered the Spanish market.
Since the 2000s, the group has been capitalising on new opportunities and growing and strengthening its international locations and positioning. In 2005, Florimond Desprez acquired Belgian company SESVanderHave, a sugar beet breeding specialist. In 2014, another milestone was reached: The group diversified its potato activities with its acquisition of French company Germicopa, followed by, in 2017, GOPEX/BRETSEEDS, a large-scale exporter.
