Florimond Desprez is establishing itself internationally and developing cross-disciplinary research

logoFlorimond Desprez has a new visual identity, reflecting the plans of the seed company that was founded in Cappelle-en-Pévèle, in France’s Nord region, in 1830.

Florimond Desprez, which breeds plant varieties and produces seeds, aims to maintain its position as a world leader for sugar beet seeds and to continue investing in breeding small grain cereals in France and internationally, while looking to capitalise on opportunities for diversification. Aware that the seed market is now growing outside of the European Union, Florimond Desprez is growing internationally, focusing on three regions: the Mediterranean Basin, Eastern Europe and South America. To this end, the main subsidiaries, located in Spain, Morocco, Russia and Argentina, are adopting Florimond Desprez’s name and identity.

An independent family-owned company, Florimond Desprez covers a large number of species and sets aside 17% of its revenues and 36% of its employees for research. The company is developing new varieties, as well as the tools and methods required for them to succeed, faced with the indispensable acceleration of research programs.
Florimond Desprez is fully aware of the importance of public-private partnerships and training combined with research and relations with the agricultural sectors and regions, as shown by its involvement in the AKER (sugar beet), Breedwheat (wheat) and IFMAS (bio-sourced products) programmes, as well as its links with various universities.
